Bandipora :Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Thursday chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat Bandipora to review the progress of the Summary Revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls 2026.

During the meeting, it was informed that the revision process is being carried out across 1133 polling stations in the district. The DC took a detailed review of the progress achieved so far and emphasized the need for ensuring transparency and saturation in the electoral roll updation process.

The EROs/AEROs informed that the draft electoral rolls had already been published at Panchayats on 27-03-2026 for inspection by the general public and for inviting claims and objections.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) to share a detailed calendar regarding public announcement vehicles with the BDOs to strengthen awareness and outreach at the grassroots level. She also directed the ACP to chair meetings focusing on door-to-door data capturing to improve coverage.

Expressing concern over poor penetration in certain areas, the DC stressed the need for intensified field-level engagement. She directed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to ensure proper identification and inclusion of vulnerable sections, particularly persons with disabilities and voters aged 85 years and above.

The DC further called for organizing dedicated meetings with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to streamline the process and enhance efficiency. She emphasized the importance of proactive public interaction, urging officers to listen to people’s concerns and address grievances effectively to ensure maximum participation and accuracy in the electoral rolls.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Deputy District Election Officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, BDOs, District Informatics Officer, and other concerned officers.
