Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized 15 vehicles across Shopian, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Anantnag.
In Shopian, police teams seized three tractors at Batamurran and Takwan in Keller. FIRs (No. 34/2026 and 35/2026) were registered at PS Keller. Another three tractors were seized by PS Imamsahib, leading to FIR No. 20/2026.
In Ganderbal, five vehicles, including three tractors and two tippers, were seized for illegal extraction of minor minerals. The matter was referred to the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed penalties.
In Pulwama, police at Litter intercepted a JCB, a dumper and a tipper at PanjranLassipora. FIR No. 43/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS and 3 PPD Act was registered.
In Anantnag, a tractor carrying illegally extracted material was seized at Chattergul. FIR No. 38/2026 was registered. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and appealed people to report illegal mining activities.
