Jammu, Srinagar Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, and Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Ahmad Dar, Javed Rana and Satish Sharma have extended their extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on on the auspicious occasions of Baisakhi and the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
In a series of messages, the leaders highlighted the dual significance of April 14 as a day that celebrates both the region’s rich agricultural heritage and the foundational democratic values of Indian Constituation.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Baisakhi festival marks the harvest season that symbolizes hope, prosperity, and new beginnings. He emphasized that the celebrations reflect the communal harmony of Jammu and Kashmir, where diverse faiths honor each other’s traditions with mutual respect. Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary and Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Ahmad Dar, Satish Sharma, and Javed Ahmed Raina have also greeted people . Minister for Agriculture, Javid Ahmad Dar, specifically noted the festival’s significance as the Foundation Day of the Khalsa Panth, representing courage and sacrifice, while also praying for the well-being of the farming community—the backbone of the region’s economy.
On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti Chief Minister Omar Abdullah paid rich tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, calling him a visionary leader and the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. CM noted that Dr. Ambedkar’s struggle for social justice continues to inspire generations. He urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from Ambedkar’s ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. Reaffirming the government’s stance, the CM said that the truest tribute to Dr. Ambedkar is ensuring equal opportunities and inclusive development for all marginalized sections. Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary and Health Minister Sakeena Itoo echoed these sentiments, stating that these festivals strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and the inclusive ethos of the Union Territory. The leadership collectively expressed hope that these occasions would usher in a period of peace, happiness, and collective progress for every household in Jammu and Kashmir.
