Sopore, Apr 14: Police on Tuesday said that eight persons have been arrested for their involvement in acts of vandalism during a recent student protest in Sopore, while 25 more miscreants have been identified.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said that the accused were involved in damaging public property and disturbing law and order during the protest.
He said that identification of other involved persons has been carried out through CCTV footage and other evidence, adding that efforts are underway to nab them.
Police said strict action will be taken against all those found involved in disrupting public order and warned against indulging in such unlawful activities.
The spokesperson further urged the public, especially youth, to maintain peace and refrain from taking law into their own hands.
