Tehran/Washington, Apr 13 (UNI) Iran has issued a stark warning ahead of the planned US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, calling the move unlawful and cautioning that any threat to its ports could trigger wider disruptions across the Gulf.
The Iranian morning comes as President Trump posted on Truth Social shortly after midnight EDT Monday: “The United States to Blockade Ships Entering or Exiting Iranian Ports on April 13 at 10:00 A.M. ET. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT.”
CENTCOM announced the blockade would begin Monday at 10 a.m. E.T., aiming to restrict Iranian maritime trade.
The threats follow the failure of talks in Islamabad over the weekend to reach a peace agreement between the US and Iran, with Pakistani mediators.
In a statement carried by state television, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters – the country’s top military command – described the proposed US restrictions on maritime movement as “illegal” and “an example of piracy,” rejecting Washington’s authority to enforce such measures in international waters.
“The restrictions imposed by criminal America on maritime navigation and transit in international waters are illegal and constitute an example of piracy,” the statement said.
Iranian commanders signalled that any attempt to restrict access to their ports would not remain contained. “If the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ports in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea is threatened, no port… will be safe,” the statement added.
The warning comes as Washington prepares to move ahead with a blockade aimed at curbing Iran’s oil exports while keeping international shipping lanes formally open.
