Crackdown against Drug Mafia, Six peddlers arrested in Anantnag

Anantnag, April 11: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police achieved major success by arresting six drug peddlers in separate operations and recovering substantial quantities of contraband substances.

In Shangus, a raid at the residence of Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Gh. Rasool Sheikh R/o Patti Sheikhpora led to the arrest of Riyaz Sheikh and Aadil Latif S/o Mohd Latif R/o Doudpora Brah, with recovery of approximately 5.75 kg of Ganja. Case FIR No. 33/2026 was registered under the NDPS Act.

At Sangam Chowk, Saqib Ahmad Lone S/o Gh. Mohd Lone R/o Natipora Sangam, a fruit seller, was found in possession of 140 grams of charas. Case FIR No. 84/2026 was registered at PS Bijbehara.

During naka checking at Bumzoo KP Road, Reyaz Ahmad Mochi S/o Ali Mohd Mochi R/o New Colony Mattan was apprehended with 5.24 kg of charas powder. Case FIR No. 37/2026 was registered at PS Mattan.

In Uttrasoo, a raid at the residence of Ajaz Ahmad Lone S/o Gh. Hassan R/o Cheerpora resulted in recovery of 2.225 kg of Ganja. Case FIR No. 36/2026 was registered under the NDPS Act.

Additionally, acting on reliable information, a case FIR No. 23/2026 was registered against Gh. Mohidin Sheikh S/o Khazir Mohammad Sheikh R/o Manzigam. A search warrant was obtained from the Judicial Magistrate, and in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, a search of his residential tin shed led to the recovery of approximately 17.27 kg of crushed charas‑like substance (Bhang Bhoosa) and 23 grams of charas pieces during his personal search.

Anantnag Police reiterates its firm resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling.
