‘Watan Ko Jano’ Initiative Strengthening National Integration: Vice President

New Delhi : A 250-member youth delegation from Jammu and Kashmir met with Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan at Uprashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi as part of the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ programme organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The  initiative aims to promote national integration by allowing the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to explore various parts of India. During the meeting, the Vice President expressed his pleasure in engaging with the talented youth from the region. He reflected on his recent visit to Srinagar, where he noted advancements in women’s development and empowerment. He also celebrated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team’s historic victory in the Ranji Trophy, emphasizing that such achievements signify a progressive future for the youth. The Vice President commended the ‘Watan Ko Jano’ programme for fostering a shared national identity among young people, enhancing their confidence and aspirations, and promoting the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.” He highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s potential as a global tourist destination due to its scenic beauty and rich culture, urging the youth to harness opportunities in education, technology, tourism, and entrepreneurship to contribute to a peaceful and prosperous future. He encouraged the students to excel in their pursuits, noting their successes in Civil Services and prestigious institutions like IIT and IIM. Additionally, he stressed the importance of staying away from drugs, asserting that a healthy youth is vital for a strong nation. The Vice President called on the participants to take pride in their contributions towards building a developed and self-reliant India, stating that national progress is contingent upon the development of every state. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh also addressed the delegation, highlighting the significant developmental changes in Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and acknowledging the rising aspirations of the region’s youth.
