Continuing its efforts to curb illegal activities, Anantnag Police on Friday apprehended four gamblers in village Anzwala under the jurisdiction of Police Post General Bus Stand.
A Police spokesperson said that acting on reliable information, a police party conducted a raid at the specified location and successfully apprehended four individuals involved in gambling activities. During the operation, 52 playing cards and stake money amounting to ₹13,600/- were recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar S/o Gh. Mohd Dar R/o Kanelwan Bijbehara, Shabir Ahmad Teeli S/o Ab. Ahad Teeli R/o Sallar Pahalgam, Gh. Nabi Sheikh S/o Gh. Mohi-ud-din Sheikh R/o Sallar Pahalgam, and Hafeezullah Bhat S/o Ab. Aziz Bhat R/o Kanelwan Bijbehara. In this regard, cognizance has been taken and further investigation has been set into motion.
Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment towards maintaining law and order and urges the general public to cooperate and share information regarding any illegal activities in their area.
