Srinagar: A designated court in Srinagar remanded two Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists and a local resident to 10 days of police custody, citing the seriousness and gravity of the offences linked to national security.
Two terrorists Abdullah alias Abu Hureira and Khubaib alias Usman Bahi, both residents of Pakistan, along with Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama, a resident of Danihama were produced on Tuesday by Police before the Court of the Additional Sessions Judge (TADA/POTA), designated as a special court under the NIA Act.
According to the court order, the accused were arrested on April 6 in connection with FIR registered at Police Station Zakoora under multiple sections of 23,18,19,20,38,39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act..
After examining the remand application and case diary, the court observed that the allegations against the accused are “serious and grave in nature” and relate to activities that threaten the “security, sovereignty and integrity of India.”
On these grounds, the court allowed the police to take the accused into custody for further investigation.
The court directed that the accused be kept in police custody for 10 days, from April 7 to April 16, and instructed the investigating officer to ensure their medical examination every 48 hours. The accused were also informed of their right to engage legal counsel during the remand period.
The three, given ten-day remands, were part of the LeT module that was busted by J&K Police this month.
