Srinagar, : The Indian Army organised a week-long summer camp titled “Hirri Horizon” at Patha Hirri in Kupwara district from April 2 to April 8, aimed at empowering young girls from remote areas through skill development and recreational activities.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from girls belonging to various villages and schools, offering a wide range of activities including badminton, self-defence training in Wushu, baking, stitching, tailoring and basic computer education. The programme also featured firing practice by NCC cadets, a plantation drive and motivational sessions conducted by women officers of the Army.
Designed as a holistic initiative, the camp focused on promoting physical fitness, mental resilience, self-confidence and social responsibility among participants. It provided a platform for young girls to explore their potential, acquire practical skills and build confidence for future challenges.
The initiative, undertaken by the Chinar Warriors, received appreciation from participants, parents and local representatives, who expressed gratitude and called for more such programmes in the region.
Through such outreach efforts, the Indian Army continues to strengthen civil-military relations, promote education and awareness, and contribute to nation-building, particularly in remote and border areas.
