Budgam : Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Wednesday  chaired a meeting to review the availability and supply position of essential commodities and key public services across the district.

The meeting was attended by JD planning, Javaid Ahmad Najar, Assistant Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineers of concerned departments, all Tehsildars, representatives of oil companies, transport authorities, and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the supply position of essential commodities, including food grains, petrol, diesel, and LPG, was conducted. The DC directed all concerned departments to ensure smooth, timely, and uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the public across all areas of the district.

The status of agriculture-related inputs such as fertilisers, manures, and seeds was also reviewed. The DC stressed ensuring their timely availability and distribution to farmers at all designated centres to meet seasonal requirements.

The meeting also reviewed the supply and usage of LPG in schools and other institutions.

The DC directed concerned authorities to ensure regular LPG supply to all educational institutions for smooth functioning of mid-day meal schemes and related services.

Reviewing the electricity scenario, the concerned officers informed about the prevailing supply position. The DC directed the department to ensure uninterrupted power supply and prompt redressal of any disruptions, especially during peak hours.

The transport sector was also discussed, with emphasis on ensuring availability of public transport services across all routes.

Emphasising public convenience, the DC directed Tehsil and Sub-Division level monitoring committees to intensify market inspections and maintain strict vigil against hoarding, black marketing, overcharging, or any malpractice in the distribution of essential commodities.

He issued strict instructions against unauthorized sale practices and warned that any attempt to create artificial scarcity, indulge in profiteering, or spread rumours will invite strict action under law.

The DC stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure transparency, accountability, and uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and services to the public across the district.
