Poonch :Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress on developmental works being executed across Poonch district.

The Minister emphasized the necessity for development to be rapid, durable, environmentally sustainable, and aligned with public needs. He mandated that all departments ensure quality execution and timely completion of projects for the benefit of the community. A detailed sector-wise review was conducted, focusing on key schemes and departments such as NABARD, MGNREGA, and PMGSY, among others. During the review of road infrastructure projects, the Minister instructed officials to identify and resolve bottlenecks hindering progress. He highlighted the importance of incorporating proper drainage systems and slope stabilization measures to ensure long-term durability and all-weather connectivity, particularly in hilly regions like Poonch. The Minister also called for enhanced outreach efforts to ensure that labor welfare schemes effectively reach beneficiaries in remote areas. Water conservation was another critical focus, with the Minister urging departments to adopt a coordinated approach for sustainable water resource management. He reviewed the food grain distribution system, calling for strict quality control measures and regular surprise inspections to improve transparency and efficiency. On employment generation, the Minister stressed the need for more impactful job fairs and greater involvement of elected representatives in the implementation of Mission YUVA to engage youth effectively. He reaffirmed the commitment to balanced and inclusive development, instructing all departments to ensure timely project completion with tangible outcomes. The meeting also addressed ongoing and proposed projects across various sectors, including infrastructure and health, and reviewed the physical and financial progress under different schemes. The Minister expressed concern over illegal mining and directed authorities to enforce regulatory measures strictly. Additionally, he instructed the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to organize awareness camps to educate farmers and the public about government schemes. A comprehensive assessment of PMGSY works was conducted, focusing on sanctioned and completed projects and expenditure status. The Minister directed all departments to expedite pending works while maintaining quality standards, transparency, and accountability in all developmental initiatives. The meeting included senior officials from various departments, ensuring a collaborative approach to development.
