Sopore, April 08: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said to have successfully solved a theft case within 24 hours of its reporting in Sopore, leading to the recovery of stolen property and arrest of two accused persons.
A Spokesperson said that Police Post Putkha received a complaint from Shabir Ahmad Wani, S/O Ghulam Hassan Wani, R/O Krankshivan Sopore, stating that during the intervening night of 05/06 April 2026, his workshop at Putkha was burgled and items including a genset and an oxygen cylinder were stolen.
Accordingly, FIR No. 50/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation was promptly initiated.
During the course of investigation, two suspects were identified and apprehended, namely Kaiser Ahmad Malik, S/O Abdul Qayoom Malik and Jehangir Ahmad Mir, S/O Abdul Gani Mir, both residents of Bangdara Choora. During sustained examination, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime and on their disclosure, the stolen property was recovered.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain any additional involvement.
