Ganderbal 8 Apr : Police have booked a man for allegedly operating with a forged licence during a drive against unauthorised service providers in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district, officials said on Wednesday.
The action was taken during a special enforcement operation carried out by police under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sonamarg.
The accused, identified as Muzafar Ahmad Khatana, a resident of Sumbal Bala Gund in Ganderbal, was found operating at the tourist resort using a fake licence, they said.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 04/2026 at Police Station Sonamarg and investigation has been initiated.
Officials said the drive is part of an ongoing effort to check unauthorised service providers in the tourist destination.
They added that in previous drives, 23 such operators were detained and fined under provisions of the Tourist Trade Act, 1978.
Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe and lawful environment for tourists and urged visitors to avail services only from authorised providers.
