Director lauds achievement, calls it a pride for Kashmir valley
Srinagar : Dr. Zarak Bhat, a PhD graduate from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, has commenced her role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Edinburgh, marking a significant achievement as the first PhD scholar from the Nanoelectronics Research and Development Group at NIT Srinagar.
Under the guidance of Dr. Sheikh Aamir Ahsan, she completed her doctoral studies, focusing on power Gallium Nitride (GaN) models, which have been influential in developing the NITSRI-GaN modeling framework. Her research has been recognized in prominent journals, including IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, for its innovative approach in linking device-level physics with circuit-level simulations, particularly for next-generation power electronic systems. At the University of Edinburgh, Dr. Zarak has joined the APRIL AI Hub, where her research will integrate artificial intelligence methodologies into electron device design workflows. This work aims to enhance optimization processes, improve performance predictions, and boost productivity in semiconductor innovation. Her appointment is seen as a significant milestone for both her and NIT Srinagar, highlighting the institute’s growing global reputation in advanced semiconductor research. Dr. Ahsan expressed pride in Dr. Zarak’s achievements, emphasizing the group’s dedication to high-quality, industry-relevant research. Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director of NIT Srinagar, congratulated both Dr. Ahsan and Dr. Zarak, describing her selection at a prestigious institution as a source of immense pride for the institute and the Kashmir valley.
