Srinagar :   Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) organized an awareness program on dental health, Basic Life Support (BLS), and mental health at Salvatore International School in Bandipora as part of its community outreach initiative.

The event attracted active participation from students and teachers, with medical experts providing informative sessions on maintaining oral hygiene, emergency response techniques, and mental health awareness. Three departments from KMCH—Dental, Anaesthesia, and Psychiatry—contributed to the program. The Dental team, led by Dr. Aqrib and Dr. Sehrish, conducted a lecture on dental health and offered a dental OPD that served approximately 200 children, who received certificates for their participation. The BLS team, comprising Dr. Shakeel and Dr. Asif, provided training sessions for senior staff and drivers. Dr. Shazia from the mental health team delivered a lecture on mental health awareness, attended by teachers and staff members. Prof. Nazir Ahmad Khan, Principal/Dean of KMCH, emphasized the institution’s responsibility to extend its impact beyond hospital walls. He highlighted the importance of empowering young minds and educators with knowledge on preventive healthcare and life-saving skills, asserting that early awareness and timely intervention can significantly enhance community health. Insha Qazi, Executive Director of KMCH, reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering a healthier society through direct engagement with students and educators. She noted that the focus on oral health, BLS skills, and mental well-being aims to equip young individuals with essential knowledge that can lead to meaningful change and strengthen community trust in healthcare. Haya Qazi, Chairperson of Salvatore International School, expressed gratitude to KMCH for the outreach session, acknowledging the informative and impactful insights shared on dental hygiene, BLS, and mental health.
