Jammu, Apr 7 (UNI) As many as 176 Sikh devotees from the union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have got clearance to pay obeisance at various Gurudwaras in the neighbouring Pakistan on the occasion of Baisakhi festival falling on April 13-14.

The ‘Sikh Sangat’ will leave Jammu on the evening of April 9.

“A total of 179 devotees had applied for the visa, and out of them, 176 were given the clearance to visit Pakistan for paying obeisance at the Gurudwaras,” Shamsher Singh Cholavi, a Sikh leader and social activist, said.

He said, “the 176 devotees from Jammu and Kashmir have got the visa clearance to visit the historic Gurdwaras in Pakistan,” adding, “The devotees will leave from Jammu for Amristar from Gandhi Nagar Gurudwara on April 9 and they will further leave for Pakistan via Wagah Border on April 10 along with other devotees joining them from different parts of the country.”

“The passports with visas will be handed over to the pilgrims on Wednesday,” he added, and said, “The devotees are highly enthusiastic.”

All the devotees have been asked to reach the venue, and after offering Ardas (prayers), the sangat will be flagged off to Amritsar from here on the evening of April 9.

As per reports, the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued over 2,800 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims for the Baisakhi celebrations from April 10–19, 2026.

These pilgrims will visit holy sites such as Gurdwara Panja Sahib and Nankana Sahib.
