Sopore, April 06, 2026:As part of the ongoing UT-wide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Sopore Police on Monday conducted a comprehensive district-wide inspection of chemists and drug stores to ensure compliance with regulatory norms and to curb the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.

A Police spokesperson said that during the drive, teams carried out inspections across various locations, focusing on verification of licenses, storage conditions and sale practices of medical establishments. Special emphasis was laid on maintaining proper records of scheduled drugs and ensuring installation of CCTV cameras at chemist outlets.

Chemists and drug store owners were strictly directed to adhere to prescribed norms and regulations and were warned of strict legal action in case of any violations.

In parallel, Sopore Police also conducted awareness programmes in various educational institutions across the district, sensitising students about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of responsible behaviour.

The drive reflects a coordinated approach combining enforcement and awareness to tackle the drug menace effectively and safeguard public health and safety.

Sopore Police reiterate their commitment to continue such initiatives and urge all stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring a drug-free society.
