Says “Peace, development, tourism visible on ground” Valley the crown of India”

Srinagar: Chief Imam of the All-India Imam Organization (AIIO), Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, on Friday described Kashmir as a “new and progressing region.”
Talking to reporters during his visit to the Valley, Ilyasi termed Kashmir as ‘crown of India,’ and said, “Visible changes on the ground reflect peace and development in the years following the abrogation of Article 370.”
Ilyasi said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a phase of transformation marked by improved conditions and a sense of normalcy.
He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for what he described as a shift towards a “better and new India.”
“The happiness and progress being seen in Kashmir today are commendable. This is a new Kashmir, a reflection of a changing India,” Ilyasi said, adding that tourism has also seen an increase in the recent years.
Referring to the situation on the ground, he said that people should visit Kashmir to witness the changes themselves. “There was fear in the past, but today there is peace and development. I appeal to people from across the country to come and see Kashmir,” he said.
Ilyasi while referring to the Pahalgam terror attack said, “Such events may create temporary fear but do not define the overall situation. The atmosphere today reflects progress and stability.”
During his visit, Ilyasi said he also visited the revered Hazratbal Shrine, where he appreciated the facilities and overall management, calling it a “model place of worship.”
The cleric also touched upon the impact of past unrest, stating that the region is moving towards stability. “The youth who were once caught in cycles of violence are now moving towards education and progress. This is a positive sign,” he said.
Referring to regional dynamics, he urged neighbouring countries to take note of India’s development trajectory while reiterating that peace remains essential, he said, “War is not a solution.”
Terming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as an “integral part of India” , Ilyasi said the people there are closely observing the developments in Kashmir.
He said the progress in the Valley has generated interest among residents across the Line of Control. “War brings destruction,” he said.
“Kashmir is integral to India’s identity and the developments in the region should serve as an example of progress driven by peace,” he added.
The Chief Imam further called for continued harmony and development, expressing hope that the current phase of progress in Kashmir will strengthen further in the coming years
