India Deaf Squad Announced for South Africa Tour; J&K’s Umar, Hilal Included

Srinagar The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) has announced the Indian Deaf cricket team for the upcoming bilateral series against South Africa, scheduled from April 26 to May 2, 2026.

The tour will comprise two One Day Internationals (ODIs) followed by a three-match T20 International series. The squad was finalised by the All-India Men’s Selection Committee after a comprehensive evaluation process.

Virender Singh of Himachal Pradesh has been named captain, while Sai Akash of Tamil Nadu will serve as vice-captain. Notably, two players from Jammu and Kashmirwicketkeeper Umar Ashraf and Hilal Wanihave secured spots in the national squad.

The selected team includes players from across the country, reflecting a balanced mix of experience and emerging talent. Alongside Umar Ashraf, Deepak Lamba has also been named as wicketkeeper in the squad.

A preparatory training and coaching camp will be held in New Delhi from April 18 to April 23 ahead of the overseas tour.

 

As per the schedule, India will begin the tour with the ODI series on April 26 and 28, followed by T20 Internationals on April 30, May 1 and May 2.

Squad:Virender Singh (Captain), Sai Akash (Vice-Captain), Umar Ashraf (WK), Abhishek Singh, Sanith Shetty, Yashwanth Naidu, Kuldeep Singh, Vivek Kumar, Pranil More, Sudarsun E, Hilal Wani, Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, Deepak Lamba (WK), Aman Chouksey.
