Says “Aim is  to strengthen emergency response on Ring Road Phase II, IIA”

Srinagar : In a significant step towards enhancing road safety and emergency medical services, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, Tuesday inaugurated and flagged off a Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulance for deployment along the Srinagar Ring Road Phase-II and IIA

The ambulance, provided by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) shall be strategically stationed along the Ring Road Phase II and IIA projects to ensure prompt medical assistance along the stretch from Sumbal to Wayil and Wayil to Pandach.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the initiative aims to provide immediate medical aid in case of road accidents and emergencies, ensuring timely stabilization and swift transportation of patients to nearby healthcare facilities. He emphasized that the service will operate round-the-clock to cater to the needs of commuters.

The BLS ambulance is equipped with essential life-saving facilities, including oxygen support for critically ill patients, intravenous fluids and necessary emergency medicines to manage pain, nausea, and other urgent conditions. It also carries a well-stocked first aid kit for on-the-spot care of injuries.

To ensure effective response during emergencies, the ambulance is staffed with a trained driver and a qualified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), capable of providing immediate care during transit.

Further, the ambulance has been integrated with the 1033 national highway emergency helpline, enabling commuters to quickly access assistance during emergencies.

The DC appreciated the support of NHAI in strengthening emergency medical infrastructure in the district and reiterated the District Administration’s commitment to ensuring safer roads and improved public services.

Project Director NHAI, PIU Srinagar, Akashdeep Singh, senior officers of the district administration and officials from NHAI were present on the occasion.
