Shopian : Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone Tuesday chaired a meeting of officers to review the availability and stock position of essential commodities across the district.
During the meeting, a detailed assessment of the stock and supply of key commodities including petrol, diesel, and LPG was carried out.
It was informed that adequate stocks of essential fuels are available, and their supply remains smooth and uninterrupted across all areas of the district.
The ADDC directed all concerned departments to ensure continuous monitoring of supply chains, maintain buffer stocks, and prevent any disruption in the availability of essential commodities.
Emphasis was laid on maintaining transparency in distribution and ensuring that benefits reach the public without delay.
The meeting also reviewed the stock position of food grains, and it was confirmed that there is sufficient availability to meet the requirements of the district.
Similarly, the availability of other essential items like fertilizers was also assessed and found to be satisfactory.
The ADDC stressed strict enforcement measures against hoarding and black marketing.The concerned authorities were instructed to intensify market inspections and take stringent action against violators as per the law.
A review of the prevailing price trends was also conducted, with directions issued to keep prices under regular surveillance to prevent unjustified hikes.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shopian, Shakoor Ahmad Dar; AD Food, CEO, CAO, CHO, BMO and other concerned officers.

District Admin Bandipora organise IEC Awareness Campaign under NMBA in Gurez
BANDIPORA, MARCH 31: As part of the ongoing activities under the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), an IEC (Information, Education and Communication) awareness campaign was organised by Government Degree College (GDC) Gurez in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora in Gurez to sensitise students and the community about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
During the campaign, a series of activities including speeches, poster presentations, community outreach rallies, and awareness lectures were conducted. A NukadNatak was also presented to highlight the social consequences of substance abuse.
The Health Department conducted awareness sessions and documentary screenings, while the Social Welfare Department distributed awareness pamphlets among students and the local community.
On the occasion, Sports activities such as carrom, chess, and yoga sessions were also organised by the Youth Services and Sports Department to promote physical and mental well-being among the youth.
The programme witnessed the presence of Principal GDC Tulail, Prof. Tariq Ahmad Wani, and Principal GDC Gurez, Prof. Bilal Ahmad Sheikh. A significant number of students, community members and officials from different departments were also present on the occasion. Students enthusiastically took part in various activities, demonstrating strong engagement and commitment towards the cause.
Speakers on the occasion emphasised the importance of collective efforts in combating drug abuse and urged students to adopt a healthy lifestyle and act as ambassadors against substance abuse in their communities.
The campaign aimed to create awareness about the ill effects of drug addiction, motivate youth towards a drug-free lifestyle, strengthene community participation, and encourage students to play an active role in spreading awareness.
