US President Donald Trump on Monday claimed that several “long sought after targets” in Iran had been successfully struck and destroyed by American forces, in a strongly worded post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“Big day in Iran. Many long sought after targets have been taken out and destroyed by our GREAT MILITARY, the finest and most lethal in the World,” Trump wrote in a brief post.
Earlier, he told reporters on board Air Force One that the US was negotiating with Iran “directly and indirectly” and that the negotiations were going “extremely well”.
He also said that he was “pretty sure” of a deal with Iran but said there was a possibility this may not happen. Still, the US has achieved “regime change” in Iran, he added.
In a separate interview with the Financial Times, he said he wants to take Iran’s oil and said the US could capture the Iranian export hub on Kharg Island.
