Pulwama : Police on Friday said that it has foiled an illegal timber smuggling attempt in Pulwama and also arrested two accused persons.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that while acting on specific inputs, a naka was established at Gabalpora to intercept smugglers transporting timber from Shopian towards Pulwama. During the operation, a group carrying timber on horses was spotted. While some suspects fled, two individuals were apprehended on the spot. The arrested have been identified as Javaid Ahmad Wagay of Nardpora, Shopian, and Mehraj Ahmad of Drach, Rajpora. Twelve timber logs along with two horses used in transportation were seized.
A case under FIR No. 42/2026 has been registered at Police Station Rajpora, and efforts are underway to apprehend other accused involved in the case.
