New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) US President Donald Trump claimed on Saturday that the military operation’ against Iran is going great,’ even as Iran fired missiles at Israel and Gulf nations, including a US military base in Saudi Arabia, injuring 12 US soldiers..

Our Military Operation in Iran is going GREAT, Trump said on his social media platform, without elaborating.

Trump’s statement came even fran launched missile and drone attacks at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, injuring 12 US soldiers, two of them seriously, Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal reported.

The combined missile and drone attacks amounted to one of the most serious breaches of American air Defences in the monthlong war with Iran, The New York Times said.

The reports, quoting (unidentified) officials said those wounded were inside a structure struck during the attack, which involved at least one ballistic missile and several drones, also damaging US military refuelling aircraft.

In a related development, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said US expects the ‘military operations’ against Iran to end ‘within weeks and not months. He discounted the possibility of sending ground troops into Iran.

Rubio who was attending G-7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in France, sought G-7 support against Iran, saying the goal (against Iran) must he met meer with ‘maximum partner contributions.

He said the US is on or ahead of schedule in that operation, and expects to conclude it at the appropriate time a matter of weeks, not months.”

Our mission is clear. In my meeting with the G7 Foreign Ministers, I reiterated that we must meet this moment with maximum partner contributions. Rubio said on X.

Rubio said the US could achieve its aim without ground troops. He, however, admitted. that the US is deploying some ground troops for maximum opportunity to adjust to any contingencies.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said in a statement late on Friday that “In the continuation of the 84th wave of Operation True Promise 4, the IRGC Navy carried out precise multiple attacks against the US-Israeli troops in the port of Al-Shuwaikh and also the beaches and port of Dubai, hitting American soldiers and their tactical equipment, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency said on Saturday.

“In this operation, which was carried out using ballistic missiles and Qadr 380 cruise missiles, 6 American landing craft urility (LCU) were hit in the port of Al-Shuwaikh, the statement said. It claimed that three of these combat ships sank after being hit and the rest are burning.

It said that at the same time, drone operations were carried out against the gathering centres of the US drone unit on the heach and one of the hotels in Dubai, using suicide drones, and these centres were precisely hit.

During this operation, in addition to the sinking of tactical vessels, a large number of American soldiers were also killed, the IRGC statement added.
