Ram Navami is a significant Hindu festival celebrated on the ninth day (Navami) of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Chaitra, marking the birth of Lord Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Thousands of devotees thronged the historic Gauri Shankar Temple at Sarkoot, from where the grand religious procession (Jhanki) commenced and proceeded towards Ram Mandir Kishtwar.

Local temples also witnessed a significant influx of devotees, who offered prayers for peace, progress and prosperity of District Kishtwar as well as the Union Territory.

Elaborate arrangements, encompassing security and essential services, were meticulously put in place by the civil and police administration to ensure smooth, safe and orderly celebrations of the Ram Navami festival across the district including at subdivision and tehsil levels.

Local Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Shagun Parihar; Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma and SSP Naresh Singh also joined the devotees at the Gauri Shankar Temple, Sarkoot, where the main celebrations were held. They also accompanied the religious procession and actively monitored and supervised the security and overall arrangements.

ADC Pawan Kotwal; Dy. SP Headquarters, Dr. Ishan Gupta along with other officers from the civil and police administration were also present on the occasion.

The MLA, DC and SSP, extended Ram Navami greetings to the people and prayed for peace, tranquility, integrity, communal harmony and brotherhood in the district and across the Union Territory.
