G’bal : A team of the 108 ambulance service conducted a safe delivery inside a moving ambulance in the Gund area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district in the early hours of Thursday.

Officials said the incident occurred at around 4.21 a.m. when a pregnant woman, who was being shifted to a healthcare facility, went into active labour during transit. The ambulance staff promptly responded to the situation and carried out the delivery before reaching the hospital.

The team, comprising Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Sameer Ahmad Khan and pilot Arif Ahmad Teli, ensured that both the mother and the newborn were attended to with due care. Officials confirmed that both are in stable condition.

The swift response and coordination by the ambulance personnel have drawn appreciation from health authorities, who said the incident underscores the importance of trained emergency responders in handling critical situations, particularly in areas with limited immediate access to advanced medical facilities.

The 108 ambulance service has been playing a crucial role in providing timely emergency healthcare across Jammu and Kashmir, especially in remote and underserved regions.
