Srinagar, :Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu, hosted anengaging interactive session with Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Director Colleges,
Department of Higher Education, J&K (UT), focusing on the rollout and significance of theSCALE (Students Connect for Academic Leverage and Excellence).
Earlier while welcoming the Director, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of thecollege, appreciated the Directorate’s progressive initiatives and underscored their importancein fostering academic awareness, institutional transparency, and student empowerment acrosshigher education institutions in the Union Territory.
The session was organised under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) andwas designed as an interactive-cum-orientation programme to enhance student awareness andparticipation in academic governance.
During the interaction, Worthy Director sensitisedstudents to a range of key academic initiatives and platforms, including the SCALE, SIGMAPortal and grievance redressal system, the YUVA Mission, the Academic Bank of Credits(ABC), MOOCs, and the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020).
He alsoelaborated on emerging opportunities in research, sports infrastructure, and the strengtheningof mentor-mentee mechanisms, urging students to actively engage with theseresources forholistic academic growth and enhanced career readiness.
He further stressed for the guidingprinciple i.e. “An informed student is an empowered student,” and further highlighted thetransformative role of digital platforms in improving accessibility, transparency, and student-centric support systems.
The session concluded with an interactive segment wherein the Director addressed students’queries and invited constructive suggestions on academic and institutional matters. Amongthose present were Dr. Vandana Khajuria, Dr. P. S. Manhas, Heads of various departments,faculty members, and a large number of students from different semesters.
