Awareness Camp organized by KVIB Budgam at ITI Chrar I Sharief

Srinagar :Jammu& Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) Budgam successfully organized an awareness camp cum interaction program  Wednesday  at Auditorium I.T.I ChrariSharief Budgam to sensitize the general public, educated unemployed youth and passing out students of the institution about the various government schemes being implemented by the Board.

The program was attended by representative from Director RSETI, Principal I.T.I ChrariSharief College, representatives from line Departments, Branch Heads of various banks, senior officers from LDM office Budgam and other dignitaries.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic response from the local community, entrepreneurs, aspiring persons, NGOs, and students from the institution. The camp aimed to educate participants about the wide range of opportunities available under the flagship programs of KVIB, including the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and J&K Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) designed to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship in urban as well as rural areas.

Addressing the gathering, District Officer KVIB Budgam emphasized the importance of utilizing these schemes to boost local industries and empower urban/rural communities. He urged the youth to get involved themselves with the schemes being implemented by the J&K KVIB for their upliftment to get the benefits of the schemes to establish their income generating ventures/units and create employment without wandering after the jobs. He requested them to engage and involve the young youth of the area in the employment generation by establishing their self income  generation units sponsored under PMEGP/JKREGP under different trades from each of the family so that the standard of living in the area will better and will contribute towards the economical growth of the UT of J&K.

The session included detailed briefing about the financial assistance, subsidies, and technical support provided under these schemes to facilitate the establishment of small and medium enterprises and the training programmes offered by the JKRSETI.

Special emphasis was laid on the production of eco-friendly products and leveraging traditional crafts to enhance economic sustainability. Participants were also guided on the application process, eligibility criteria, and necessary documentation required to avail of these benefits.

The event featured interactive sessions, where queries were addressed and provided personalized consultations to attendees. Success stories of beneficiaries who have established thriving businesses under KVIB schemes were also shared to inspire and motivate others.

During the programme, it was informed that, KVIB is committed for creating awareness about these schemes and ensuring that the benefits reach the grassroots level. It was also informed that during the current financial year 2025-26, KVIB Budgam has established 321 units providing M.M. (subsidy) to the tune of Rs 645.78 lakh under PMEGP and established 15 units invoving M.M. (subsidy) to the tune of Rs 45.15 lakh under JKREGP.

The camp concluded with the distribution of informational booklets and registration forms to interested participants. KVIB assured that similar awareness programs would be conducted in other regions to extend the reach of their initiatives.
