Ganderbal : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized three tippers & one JCB for illegal extraction of minor minerals in Ganderbal.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. The vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
In its statement Police also reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district , appealing people therein to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources. Police also warned that strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.
