Ramban :District Administration RambanMonday organized a series of events across the district to mark Martyrs’ Day in honour of national heroes Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru, who laid down their lives for the freedom of the motherland.

A major district-level programme was held at Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban, where Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, presided over the event in the presence of Principal GDC Ramban, Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri. The programme was organized by GDC Ramban in collaboration with the District Administration and the local unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

On the occasion, a one-day District Level “Khelo Bharat Championship” was organized as part of the special phase of “VandeMataram” celebrations being observed from March 23 to 30 across the district.

The event commenced with the mass singing of the National Song VandeMataram by all participants, followed by the National Anthem, creating a patriotic atmosphere. Various sports competitions including kabaddi, boxing and badminton were conducted in both men’s and women’s categories, witnessing enthusiastic participation and keen competition among the youth.

Paying rich tributes to the martyrs, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted their supreme sacrifices and called upon the youth to draw inspiration from their courage, patriotism and commitment to the nation. He also underlined the importance of organizing such events to instill a sense of national pride and unity among the younger generation, while elaborating on the broader significance of the National Song VandeMataram.

The Deputy Commissioner distributed trophies and medals among the winners and runner-up teams and appreciated the efforts of all participants. He appreciated the organizers, especially the Principal GDC Ramban, for successfully conducting the event and expressed hope that more such activities would be organized in the future.

Emphasizing the ongoing “VandeMataram” campaign, he urged educational institutions to host similar programmes during the special phase to honour the martyrdom of the great national heroes.
