3.5 lakh PNG connections issued; panic buying declines, strict action against hoarding
New Delhi: The Centre on Monday said there is no shortage of fuel in the country despite disruptions caused by the West Asia crisis, assuring that supplies of petrol, diesel, LPG and natural gas remain stable.
At an inter-ministerial briefing, officials said all refineries are operating at high capacity with adequate crude stocks, while no fuel dry-outs have been reported at retail outlets. Citizens were advised against panic buying.
More than 3.5 lakh domestic and commercial PNG connections have been issued in March to reduce dependence on LPG. Priority sectors continue to receive uninterrupted gas supply, while industrial supply is being regulated.
The government said LPG supply remains normal, with panic bookings declining significantly. Enforcement agencies conducted over 2,400 raids in the past 24 hours to curb hoarding and black marketing.
Officials also confirmed that Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf are safe, and maritime operations and port activities across the country remain unaffected. PIB
