JMC felicitates winners of online poetry competition on ShaheediDiwas

Jammu :To commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, a grand felicitation ceremony was held Monday at the Town Hall, Jammu Municipal Corporation.

The event was organized to honor the winners of the recently conducted online poetry competition, where the citizens of Jammu showcased their patriotic fervor and creative talent through heartfelt verses dedicated to the martyrs of March 23rd.

The ceremony was graced by a distinguished panel of officials led by Dr.Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation and Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). Joining him in recognizing the young talents were Subha Mehta, Joint Commissioner (R&E), JMC and Dr. Priyanka Malhotra (VAS), JMC. The competition was evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges, including Dr. Poonam Sharma, PromilaManhas and Alka, who were instrumental in selecting the top performers based on their poetic depth and delivery.

The online competition saw enthusiastic participation across three age-specific categories. In the Balveer Group, ManrajKour secured the first position followed by Manya Sharma in second place. Within the Yuva Josh Group, Pankhuri Malhotra claimed the top spot while Vaishnavi earned the second position. In the RashtriyaPrerna Group, the first prize was awarded to Ankush Sharma and the second prize to Akash Katoch. In recognition of their poetic excellence, the first-place winners in each category were awarded a cash prize of ₹5000, while the second-place winners received ₹3000.

During the event, Dr.Devansh Yadav felicitated the participants and encouraged them to continue using their creative voices for nation-building.

While speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that the true tribute to our martyrs lies in the active participation of the youth in social causes and that poetry serves as a powerful bridge between our glorious history and a responsible future.

The event concluded with the winners reciting their moving tributes, leaving the audience deeply inspired by the legacy of the heroes who gave their lives for the nation’s independence.
