Appreciates department’s efforts in creating awareness among farming community

JAMMU, MARCH 21: Member of Parliament, Sat Sharma and MLA Nagrota, Devyani Rana today visited the departmental stalls installed by the Department of Horticulture at Baba Kailakh Nath Mandir, Thathar, during two days awareness programme bring organized for farmers and the general public.

The Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu R Kotwal and Chief Canning Instructor Sanjeev Kumar Karlupia, Horticulture Development Officer Bhalwal Ravinder Kumar along with the field staff of the department were present on the occasion.

The department disseminated information regarding various horticulture schemes and subsidies available to farmers. They were briefed about key horticulture initiatives including high-density fruit plantation, area expansion under fruit crops, rejuvenation of old and unproductive orchards, establishment of fruit nurseries, others schemes like HADP, JKCIP, MIDH, CSS and post-harvest management practices such as grading, packaging, and value addition.

A large number of farmers and local residents visited the stalls and showed keen interest in availing benefits under different schemes and components.

The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the department in creating awareness among the farming community and emphasized the importance of adopting modern horticulture practices to enhance productivity and income.

The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) also installed a two-day Book Exhibition at the Kisan Mela.

JKAACL showcased its rich collection of Academy publications and journals, which received wide appreciation from the public as well as the visiting dignitaries.
