Baramulla, Mar 20 : Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district have solved a shop theft case in Kunzar area and arrested the accused from Delhi, officials said.

The case was registered on March 9 following a complaint by Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Darhama, who reported that unknown persons had broken into his mobile shop at Mohamadia Complex, Kunzar, during the night of March 7 and 8 and decamped with around 20 mobile phones, a laptop and ?5,000 cash.

An FIR (No. 26/2026) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Kunzar and investigation was initiated.

During the probe, police teams analysed CCTV footage and other technical evidence, leading to the identification of the accused as Rahil Ahmad Reshi, a resident of Gonipora, Chanpora in Kunzar.

A police team subsequently tracked him to Delhi, where he was arrested, the officials said.

Police said 13 stolen mobile phones and a laptop were recovered from his possession.

Efforts are on to recover the remaining stolen property, they added.

Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
