“Jal Hai Kal” theme highlights need for sustainable water use; DC calls for mass participation

Kathua| March, 18:Municipal Council Kathua Wednesday  organised an awareness programme under AMRUT 2.0 on the theme “Jal Hai Kal – Save Water, Save Life” to sensitise the public about the importance of water conservation.

The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Jammu in collaboration with Red FM, aimed at generating awareness among the masses about the essence of water and its judicious use.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma while speaking on the occasion appreciated Red FM for its proactive role in educating people on key issues like cleanliness, elimination of single-use plastic and water conservation. He said that participants of such awareness programmes act as ambassadors and multipliers of the message, helping society remain proactive in preserving vital natural resources.

The DC emphasised that judicious use of water by all stakeholders is essential and stressed the need to maintain cleanliness in homes, surroundings and public places with equal responsibility. He added that such initiatives will be extended across both rural and urban areas of the district to transform them into a sustained mass movement.

Earlier, RJ Sarang along with his team from Red FM engaged the participants through informative and entertaining activities including skits, mimicry, tongue twisters and shayari, while also rewarding winners with T-shirts.

CEO MC Kathua, Prithvi Sangra, EO MC Billawar Varinder Pal Singh and PAO along with a large number of people including students and staff of GHSS Girls Kathua were present on the occasion.

A mass pledge on water conservation was also administered by the Deputy Commissioner. A special water testing counter was also set up by the Jal Shakti Department Kathua for the benefit of the public.

On the occasion, CEO MC Kathua, EO MC Billawar and PAO were felicitated for their cooperation and support.
