Shahzad Stresses on  strengthening ECCE services

Kulgam : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress and implementation of Poshan projects across the district, with a special focus on strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) services at Anganwadi Centres.

During the meeting, the DC emphasized the importance of effective implementation of Poshan initiatives aimed at improving the nutritional status, health, and early learning outcomes of children.

He highlighted that ECCE forms a crucial component in the holistic development of children in the 3–6 year age group and stressed the need to ensure child-friendly learning environments at all Anganwadi Centres.

The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure the availability of adequate learning materials, regular pre-school activities, and proper monitoring of ECCE sessions at the grassroots level.

Various aspects of the Poshan programme implementation were also reviewed, including growth monitoring, supplementary nutrition, awareness campaigns, and inter-departmental convergence for better service delivery.

The DC stressed the need for strong coordination among departments to further strengthen ECCE activities and ensure that every eligible child benefits from nutrition, health, and early education services under the Poshan programme.

The meeting concluded with directions for intensified monitoring and timely reporting to effectively achieve the objectives of Poshan initiatives in the district.

District Programme Officer, Zaheer Ahmad Kaifi; Joint Director Planning, Malik Suhail; Chief Education Officer (CEO) and Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) attended the meeting.
