Kulgam :Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, Monday chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the DC Office, Kulgam, to finalize the district Road Safety Plan and review measures aimed at improving road safety across the district.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the urgent onboarding of District Hospital, Sub-District Hospitals (SDHs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) on the e-DAR portal to ensure timely reporting and management of road accident cases. He also stressed the effective implementation of the PM RAHAT scheme to facilitate prompt assistance to accident victims.
The DC issued strict directions to the concerned departments for the implementation of the norms and guidelines of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety (SCCoRS) and the Road Safety Policy 2025.
He called for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to strengthen road safety mechanisms in the district.
Special focus was laid on engineering-based remedial measures, including the identification and rectification of accident-prone black spots on major roads. The DC directed the concerned departments to accelerate the installation of crash barriers and road safety signages at vulnerable locations to minimize accidents and enhance commuter safety.
The meeting also reviewed the overall road safety scenario in the district and discussed strategies to ensure better traffic management, awareness generation and strict enforcement of road safety regulations.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC, SE, R&B; Joint Director Planning, Additional SP, ACR, Executive Engineer, R&B, PMGSY, ARTO,CMO and other officers from Police, R&B, Transport and Traffic.
