Srinagar :: Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) Sempora on Saturday (Mar 14) organised its maiden and unique Majlis-e-Iftaar gathering for its staff as part of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Iftaar gathering was attended by Milli trust President Dr.Faiyaz Ahmad along with Managing Director KMCH Tauseef Ahmad; Executive Director KMCH Insha S. Qazi; besides KMCH administration, HODs, faculty members, doctors and the staff members of the KMCH family, who came together to break their fast in a spirit of unity and camaraderie.

The gathering provided an opportunity for staff to interact and strengthen mutual bonds outside the routine work environment, fostering unity and camaraderie during the holy month of Ramadan.

Managing Director Tauseef Ahmad said that the establishment of the medical college and hospital reflects a strong commitment to the wellbeing of every individual in Kashmir, adding that it represents an investment in health, hope, and the future prosperity of the community.

He said the institution aims to strengthen quality medical education and accessible healthcare services while nurturing a new generation of compassionate and skilled medical professionals.

He further emphasized that the college and hospital will continue to focus on patient-centric care, advanced medical facilities, and academic excellence, ensuring that students receive the best possible training while serving the community. He added that such initiatives are essential for building a resilient healthcare system in the region.

At the Iftaar gathering, the Managing Director also wished all NEET UG 2026 aspirants the very best for their upcoming examinations and encouraged them to remain focused, work hard, and pursue their dream of serving society through the noble profession of medicine.

Director KMCH Insha S. Qazi said that the holy month of Ramadan teaches the values of compassion, unity, patience and gratitude.

“Organising this Iftaar gathering is a small gesture to appreciate the dedication and hard work of our staff. Such occasions bring us together like a family and strengthen the spirit of cooperation within the institution,” she said.

She said the institution greatly values the commitment of its employees, whose tireless efforts contribute to delivering quality healthcare and education.

Insha S. Qazi also expressed hope that the holy month would inspire everyone to continue serving society with sincerity, empathy and a renewed sense of responsibility.

KMCH management appreciated the dedication and services of its staff and highlighted the importance of such occasions in fostering a sense of community and cooperation.

Professor and Head Department of Ophthalmology at KMCH, Dr Sheikh Sajad, said the department is being developed with the vision of becoming one of the leading centres for eye care in the region.

“We aim to provide high-quality ophthalmic services comparable to corporate healthcare standards, but at an affordable cost so that people from all sections of society can benefit,” he said.

Dr. Sajad added that the department will focus on advanced diagnostics, modern treatment facilities and patient-friendly services. “Our priority is to ensure that patients receive the best possible care without financial burden. We invite people to visit us and experience the quality of services we are striving to provide,” he said.

Professor and Head Department of Pathology at KMCH, Dr Ruby Reshi, said Kashmir Valley has been blessed with a beautiful institution that will benefit generations to come in both healthcare and medical education.

“Many families in Kashmir have to send their children outside the region for higher studies, especially for MBBS, which is not affordable for everyone. KMCH, with its qualified faculty and modern facilities, offers a valuable opportunity for students to pursue quality medical education closer to home,” she said.

Dr.Reshi added that the institution will grow into a full-fledged postgraduate centre in the future, which would further strengthen medical education and healthcare services in the region. “We wish Kashmir Medical College all the best for its endeavours and future plans,” she said.
