Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has foiled a timber smuggling attempt in Shutloo village under Police Station Panzalla in Sopore during night patrolling, officials said on Saturday.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that suspected smugglers were intercepted while transporting illicit timber but they fled under the cover of darkness, leaving behind 14 logs of illegally felled timber and a horse used for transportation. The timber and the horse were seized and taken into police custody. A case (FIR No. 13/2026) has been registered at Police Station Panzalla, and investigation is underway to identify those involved.
