Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday released the book “Mehsoos – Stories of Social Transformation” at the DIPR Auditorium in Srinagar and called upon people to introspect and actively contribute towards social progress.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to reflect on their role in building society.
“Ask yourself: What am I doing for my community? What legacy am I building for the people? What inheritance do I wish to leave for future generations? The answers within you will reshape our tomorrow,” he said.
The book highlights inspiring grassroots stories of selfless service and transformative social initiatives undertaken by volunteers of Sewa Bharti J&K and the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of India.
Calling the publication inspiring, Sinha said the stories reflect dedication, sacrifice and commitment of volunteers working at the grassroots level.
“This book carries inspiring chronicles for the people. I want these tales of Sewa Bharti’s sacrifices, Ekal Vidyalaya’s dedication, volunteers’ commitment and the transformation in our communities to reach beyond Jammu and Kashmir and ignite countless volunteers across India,” he said.
Highlighting the potential of the Union Territory, the Lieutenant Governor said Jammu and Kashmir holds immense promise for building a brighter future.

“Jammu and Kashmir brims with boundless promise to shape a radiant future. We have natural abundance, dynamic youth and citizens driven by service,” he said.

Sinha said that great futures are built through collective resolve and effort.

“Great futures are not forged by fate but by resolve and collective endeavour. A prosperous Jammu and Kashmir will be defined not only by economic metrics but by a quality of life every citizen cherishes,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also outlined five key resolutions for transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a leading Union Territory—Social Harmony, Family Awakening, Environmental Stewardship, Civic Duty and Self-Reliance.

“These five resolutions are not mere ideas but our collective mandate to ensure robust socio-economic growth,” he said.

Among those present on the occasion were Prof. Rakesh Kumar Jha, President Sewa Bharti J&K; Suman Dhir, President Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation; Dr Farooq Dar, Vice President Sewa Bharti J&K; Pradeep Kapoor, General Secretary Sewa Bharti; Ajay Takoo, Fayaz Ahmed Mir and other office bearers and volunteers.

DIG CKR Rajiv Pandey, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, senior officials and prominent citizens from different walks of life also attended the event.
