Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized two tractors for transporting illegally extracted construction minerals in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that vehicles were intercepted by police team of PS Ganderbal during routine patrolling and checking. Upon inspection, the vehicles were found transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. Both vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities and appealed people to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources, Warning therein that strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.
