Srinagar : Police on Wednesday arresting two drug peddlers in separate operations in Anantnag district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that a police party of Police Post Sangam during a routine checking at Halmulla, intercepted a Maruti Alto bearing registration No. JK01P-4799 and recovered approximately 4.90 kilograms of Ganja-like substance concealed inside the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Suhail Ahmad Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat R/O BaliyarMarhama was arrested and the contraband substance was seized.
In another operation, a naka party of Police Post Sangam apprehended one Abdul Rashid Bhat S/O Abdul Razak Bhat R/O Bhatpora, Marhama at K.V. PoraMarhama. During search, approximately 3.74 kilograms of Charas powder-like substance was recovered from his possession. Regarding the incidents, cases under FIR Nos. 56/2026 and 57/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Bijbehara besides initiating further investigation.
In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug menace appealed people to cooperate by sharing inputs about drug peddling or any suspicious activity in their areas.
