Rajouri :District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and Rural Development Department (RDD), Monday organised a District Level Awareness Programme under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative here at Dak Bungalow.
The programme was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, marking the end of a series of awareness activities organised at the block level across the district. These awareness campaigns aimed at promoting the welfare and empowerment of the girl child.
Additional District Development Commissioner, MalikzadaSheraz ul Haq presided over the event.
Addressing the gathering, the ADDC highlighted the importance of creating widespread awareness about social issues affecting women and girls. He stressed the need to eliminate practices such as early marriage and female foeticide. He underscored the importance of ensuring education and equal opportunities for girls in society.
He also emphasised the need to create greater awareness regarding women’s rights and the opportunities available for them in different fields. “There is a need to encourage them to actively participate in social, educational and economic activities,” he added.
The programme featured a thought-provoking play presented by the Rangmanch group, which effectively highlighted the social evils and discriminatory practices faced by women in society, conveying a strong message on the need for societal change.
Among others present on the occasion included ACD, Auqil Naveed; DSWO, Abdul Raheem; BDO, Javed Ahmed; BDO Headquarters, HinaKoser besides other district and sectoral officers.
