Ramban : In commemoration of the “International Women’s Day-2026” the Government Degree College RambanSaturday hosted a debate competition. The topic of the debate was the ‘Role of Women in Contribution Making’ in which five students presented and expressed their views.
Former DDC Chairperson RambanDr.Shamshada Shan was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme began with the welcome address presented by Principal of the College Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri. He spoke on the significance of women in the development of the nation. He portrayed the historical significance of International Women’s Day and the struggle of women for equal rights and opportunities. He also urged the students to adopt a positive attitude and imbibe values of respect and equality in their lives.
Dr.Shamshada Shan emphasized the pivotal role of women in social, political and cultural developments and urged the students to work for the promotion of gender equality and justice. She appreciated the efforts of the college in conducting the programme.
The jury members comprising Prof. Romesh Kumar, HOD Economics, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, HOD Political Science and Prof. Samir Ahmad, HOD English evaluated the performance and finalized the results of the competition.
The winners of the competition were honoured with medals and certificates by the Chief Guest, Principal and other faculty members.
