BARAMULLA, MARCH 07: A sensitization and awareness programme for senior citizens was organized at Community Hall Wagoora by the Tehsil Social Welfare Office Baramulla under the supervision of the District Social Welfare Office Baramulla today.

The programme aimed to educate elderly citizens about their legal rights, entitlements, and various welfare schemes introduced by the government for their well-being.

The programme focused on creating awareness among senior citizens about the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act and other initiatives undertaken by the government to ensure dignity, protection, and social security for the elderly.

Officials and experts from various departments participated in the programme and shared valuable information regarding healthcare services, safety measures, legal safeguards, and welfare schemes available for senior citizens. They emphasized the importance of ensuring proper care, protection, and support for the elderly and encouraged them to stay informed about their rights and available services.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens and members of the local community, who appreciated the initiative taken by the Social Welfare Department to sensitize society about the rights, dignity, and welfare of the elderly population.

The event concluded with an interactive session where participants shared their experiences and raised queries regarding various issues faced by senior citizens, making the programme informative and engaging.
