*Baramulla | 07 Maar : As part of its continued efforts to curb illegal mining activities, Baramulla Police, in coordination with officials from the Geology and Mining Department, carried out a joint enforcement operation at Dargam Nallah in the morning hours today.During the operation conducted at around 0800 hrs, two tractors were found involved in the unauthorized extraction of minerals from the nallah. Acting promptly, the team seized both vehicles on the spot.
The drivers of the seized tractors have been identified as:
• Faisal Ahmad S/o Mohd Shafi Khan R/o Bangdara
• Mehrajudin Mir S/o Gh Mohammad Mir R/o Wussan Khoi
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the individuals were engaged in illegal extraction of minerals without obtaining the requisite permission from the competent authority. Accordingly, the vehicles have been seized and proceedings have been initiated under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act.
Baramulla Police remains committed to safeguarding natural resources and will continue to take firm action against those involved in illegal mining and related activities. Public cooperation in reporting such unlawful practices is highly appreciated.
