Jammu : As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Jammu and Kashmir Thursday organized a three-day Women Painters’ Camp at Kala Kendra, Jammu. The camp, being held from March 5 to March 7, 2026, is based on the theme “Give to Gain,” which is also the theme of International Women’s Day 2026.

Secretary, JKAACL, Harvinder Kour inaugurated the painting camp. In her inaugural address, she stated that the objective of organizing the camp is to highlight the various shades of women’s lives through creative art and to provide a platform for women artists to express their thoughts, experiences and perspectives through painting. She emphasized that such initiatives help promote artistic talent and encourage meaningful dialogue through visual expression.

The Secretary also appreciated the prominent women artists participating in the camp and expressed confidence that their creative works would reflect the spirit of the theme and contribute to the enrichment of the cultural landscape.

Among others present on the occasion were Additional Secretaries of the Academy, Sonali Arun Gupta and Lal Chand and Chief Editor Javaid Rahi.

The artists participating in the camp include Preeti Sharma, Suman Chib, Mahua Gupta, Shruti Arora, Deepa Soni, Malti Sharma, Bhawna Sharma, Dimple Sharma (Basohli) and ReenuManhotra.

The camp will continue for three days, during which the participating artists will create artworks reflecting the theme, culminating in a display of their creative expressions celebrating the strength, emotions and diverse experiences of women through art.
