Srinagar : The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has apprehended a habitual fake job fraudster from Faridabad, Haryana, who had allegedly duped several youths from Srinagar on the pretext of providing overseas employment.
Officials said a special team of the SCW arrested the accused, identified as Farhat Abbas Malik, son of Din Mohammad Malik, a resident of Tendla Chilipingal in Doda district, who had been evading arrest for several months in connection with FIR No. 02/2025 registered at Police Station SCW Crime Branch Kashmir.
According to the Crime Branch, the accused allegedly cheated several job seekers by promising them placements abroad, particularly in Armenia, and collected money from them on the assurance of arranging employment.
The officials said Malik is a habitual fraudster and had been on the run for a considerable period before being traced and arrested by the Crime Branch team in Faridabad.
After his arrest, the accused was produced before the Duty Magistrate Court in Faridabad, from where the Crime Branch obtained his transit remand. He was subsequently brought to Srinagar and presented before the competent court for further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Special Crime Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir has urged the general public, particularly unemployed youth, to remain vigilant against such fraudulent schemes. Authorities advised job aspirants to verify the authenticity and credentials of job placement agencies or consultancies before making any payments to avoid falling prey to fraud.
