Ganderbal :   Police on Wednesday said that it has seized three  more vehicles in Ganderbal including two  tippers and one tractor involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of Minor Minerals within the jurisdiction of PS Safapora and PS Kangan.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday said that the vehicles seized were found transporting illegally extracted material from Nallah Sindh without the mandatory permissions. Acting swiftly and in close coordination with the Geology & Mining Department, teams from the concerned police stations intercepted and seized these vehicles on the spot, tightening the clampdown on illegal mineral transportation in the area.  In its statement Police reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protect natural resources and curbing such unlawful activities. In another similar action police seized four tractors involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in Berthipora and Takwan areas of the district Shopian. During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Post Berthipora intercepted two tractors engaged in illegal mining activities without mandatory permissions. In this regard a case under FIR No. 09/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Keller and further investigation are underway. In a similar action a police party from Police Station Keller seized two tractors for being involved in illegal transportation of minerals. A case under FIR No 10/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Keller and further investigation has been taken up.

In its statement Police reiterated its firm commitment to safeguard the district’s natural resources and ensure strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities, appealing therein people to cooperate by sharing any such unlawful practices, assuring therein that informers will be kept strictly confidential and stringent action will be taken against violators.
